No Wintersday in Factions?
Okay so we all know the following towns are decorated for Wintersday and have quests or something going on:
Ascalon City
Droknar's Forge
Kamadan
And probably some others I forgot to mention. My question is, how come Wintersday is nowhere in Factions? To me, Factions is the best campaign, and if all these other places have Wintersday, why not Factions? Just never made sense to me.

Asia doesn't generally celebrate Christmas, that's why. As mentioned, they have Chinese New Year.

Is northern Africa big on Christmas? Especially given that "Wintersday" is a thign between Grenth and Dwayna, 2 gods that are worshiped in Cantha, it seems a bit odd to not have Wintersday there. Frankly, I think it's some odd desire on the part of the devs to keep Factions different...

Different as in never existed . I'd try to forget factions too, but always remember it when I look at my assassin.

Cantha gets the Dragon Festival and Canthan New Year, Tyria and Elona get Wintersday and Halloween. Get over it.

The way I see it, Cantha is probably south of the equator. Ergo, instead of snow they should be in the middle of summer right now. It wouldn't make much sense for the southern continent to celebrate a festival about winter if the days are long and the sun is at its highest.

You forget Australia? It's summer there, and many Australians celebrate Christmas. Don't they?

That's true, although Wintersday is not a real equivalent to Christmas.
Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, and that isn't specific to any season. A birthday can happen at any time of the year - the reason why Christmas takes place in winter in the northern hemisphere is due to the church's modifications to the festival calendar so that the new Pagan converts would know when they were supposed to be celebrating (and they integrated a lot of Pagan traditions from the season into the festival as well to make the transition for new converts easier).
Wintersday, on the other hand, is something that can only happen during the cold times of the year; Grenth wants the cold to be prolonged, while Dwayna wants the warmth of spring to come sooner.
If Cantha is in the middle of summer right now, there's no cold. If there's no cold, there's no reason for Wintersday there.

Cantha is sub-tropical. Wintersday is in a temperate zone. And swallows, whether English or African, keep their average air velocities a secret.

That explains the snow capped mountains around Shing Jea Monastery then.

Because Cantha doesn't celebrate Wintersday, that's why. Fake continents, fake holidays, purely coincidence that they fall around the time of Christmas and gifts are given.

Just because Anet says that Cantha can't celebrate Wintersday, doesn't mean it cant' happen. Check out the Wintersday for All mod.

Wow deja vu...I feel as if we've had this discussion before.
Oh wait, that's right. Last year....and Halloween...
Cantha has no Wintersday because Anet says so. We get Canthan New year and Dragon Festival there.

Canthans get the Dragon Festival and Canthan New Year.
I don't know if there is an equivalent for Xmas in Asia, anyways. If it is, it doesn't seem mainstream.
Besides, Factions is, undoubtedly, the worst chapter of all. It doesn't deserve the tender love and care ANet gives to Tyria and Elona.

Elona is attached to, and south of Tyria. Cantha is on a seperate continent.
First there was Tyria, and ANet came up with Wintersday for a special event.
Then there was Cantha, and ANet came up with the Dragon Festival for a special event.
Then the was Elona and ANet said "WTF! We need another holiday! ....... No, wait. We'll just recycle Wintersday and it's a lot less work for us!"
